Online Video: GRIP STRENGTH and DEXTERITY
It’s no wonder our speed club leaders in each grade also lead the grip strength challenge for their age group. There is a direct correlation between how strong a pitcher is and how hard she can throw the ball. The stronger her fingers, the more force she can apply into the ball at release.
One of the most important keys to your fastpitch pitching success is having extremely strong fingers, hands, wrist, and forearms. Most pitchers don’t fully grasp the importance of working these muscle areas. And for many pitchers, it’s the weak link in their chain. Don’t let it be yours!
What gets measured gets accomplished. Using a dynamometer, we get a baseline grip strength measurement. We retest in later lessons. As the grip strength numbers go up, so does the speed!
Benefits of the many exercises in this 40-minute video include improved strength, increased range of motion, coordination, dexterity, and increased blood flow. Grip better, pitch better.
